Job description

MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Performs tasks requiring considerable judgment in determining work methods, interpreting results and writing clear and accurate reports

  • Adhere to environmental and safety procedures associated with lab processes and procedures

  • Works with technicians and may assist engineers in evaluating and improving designs or processes

  • May build and test mechanical models, electrical circuits and assemblies, software, and/or perform basic analyses requiring knowledge of scientific and/or laboratory techniques

  • May assist in project planning and budgeting

  • May provide direction or training to interns, contract technicians or lower-level technicians

  • Document and record test data in compliance with quality requirements and compare results against predetermined limits

  • Construct and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment and software tools

  • Troubleshoot and fault isolate equipment

  • Perform other related duties as required 


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • Technical Associate degree or equivalent experience in applicable discipline

  • Five years of applicable technical experience 


PREFERRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Associate Technical degree with a minimum of 5 years of related experience preferred

  • Proficient troubleshooting skills

  • Proficient with test and measurement equipment

  • Proficient computer skills including office software applications

  • Strong understanding of electrical, electronic circuit and measurement fundamentals

  • Certifications for basic skills such as soldering

  • Proficient use of basic data analysis tools


 WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • Office and laboratory environments, including electronic test equipment, machinery, tools and environmental equipment

  • May require movement of objects (up to 30 pounds)

  • 1% to 2% travel may be required

  • Occasional overtime required
