Within our Contracts, Procurement, & Risk Management (CPRM) Division, the State Building Code Council (SBCC) provides independent analysis and objective advice to the Legislature and the Governor's Office on state building code issues. By establishing the minimum building, mechanical, fire, plumbing and energy code requirements necessary, we are able to promote the health, safety and welfare of the people of the state of Washington.
As the SBCC Managing Director, you will have the exciting opportunity to lead and guide our Council and staff in the rulemaking process to adopt state building codes and to meet legislative mandates. Your recommendations on actions related to permanent rule making will have a statewide impact on residents and government. You will also provide support to other local, state and federal enforcement agencies for compliance with federal laws related to accessibility (ADA) and energy policy.
Your communication and analytical skills will be critical in interpreting regulations and in representing our Council to the media and the public.
