Job description

Position Summary

Prepare and teach a variety of courses in the classroom or lab settings. The successful candidate will be flexible in their ability to achieve the instructional and general responsibilities of this position. This position reports to the Dean of Health, Business & Professional Services.

Essential Functions/Duties

  • Prepare, teach and assess outcomes in cybersecurity, networking, and database technology courses.

  • Advise students and participate in student outreach activities.

  • Work with program faculty and staff on curriculum and program development incorporating current educational theories and research and integrating new and innovative approaches to instruction.

  • Maintain regular office hours to improve student retention and success.

  • Serve on faculty committees; participate in department, division, and college activities normally assigned to full-time faculty.

  • Work with an advisory committee of community partners to keep curriculum relevant to local employer needs.

  • Work with local employers and students to facilitate internships.

  • Work with certifying organizations to create partnerships and earn endorsements.

  • Support division and department goals.

  • Participate actively in departmental responsibilities to include curriculum review, program development, and faculty meetings.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in IT or related field.

  • Work experience in networking, network hardware support, and/or cybersecurity technologies.

  • One or more of the following IT industry certifications, A+, Network+.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with first-generation and under-represented populations.

  • One or more IT industry certifications such as MCSE, CCNA, CEH, Security+.

  • Experience teaching in community colleges.

  • Master’s degree in IT or related field

  • Experience developing and teaching in online environments (including full online, hybrid, or web-enhanced).

Terms of Employment 

This is a full-time, tenure track faculty position contracted on an annual basis, scheduled to begin Fall quarter 2019. Classes assigned to the successful candidate may be on campus, hybrid online, or fully online with an online learning management system (Canvas) component for some class materials. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and membership in the TCC Federation of Teachers or payment of a service fee is available.  Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and off campus assignments may be a part of the instructional load.  Degrees must be from accredited colleges or universities recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and verified by National Student Clearinghouse.
