Job description

Senior FSR:


Will provide the necessary technical, logistics, engineering and support/advice to enhance the warfighter’s use of Mission Command systems in support of tactical, operational and strategic operations.  Must be able to train and interact with all ranks, Flag Officer to Private. 


 


Graduate of a technical or computer school with 10 years of experience. May substitute additional AA/BA/BS for 4 years of experience.


Requires minimum current SECURITY+ certification.


 


Will provide the necessary technical, logistics, engineering and support/advice to enhance the warfighter’s use of Mission Command systems in support of tactical, operational and strategic operations.  Must be able to train and interact with all ranks, Flag Officer to Private. 


 


Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:




  • You must lead, build, and mentor your team.




  • Will consolidate all AAR/Trip reports for distribution to SME or PM MC.




  • When assigned, will participate in weekly round-table discussions with the government and IPRs.  The purpose of the meetings are to discuss, but not limited to, open issues, knowledge sharing, status of upcoming regional events and personnel activities, and to provide a forum for technical interchanges.




  • Will manage the government-provided suite of equipment in a government designated facility/facilities for FSE training and familiarization of software and hardware baselines. 




  • Will semi-annually or when requested to provide a technical study IAW with CDRL A005, assessing and recommending efficiencies in the regional management structure and the execution of FSEs throughout CONUS and OCONUS regions.




  • Will provide training to support FSE Training to support professional development within Mission Command using white papers, courses, capturing AARs, Lessons Learned and TT&P to share across Mission Command.




  • Must have a substantial background in communications, communication connectivity, knowledge of network protocols data feeds and coordination of data feeds.




  • Conduct all Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities of the Junior and Journeyman FSE.


     




Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:




  • Conduct support of the PM MC fielded baselines and may be given at CONUS or OCONUS locations (could include Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Korea, Germany, Italy and Australia.)




  • Required to operate and maintain all supported software and systems.




  • Have experience with, and a working knowledge of the current fielded version Mission Command specific hardware and software. 




  • Perform functional and empirical analysis to evaluate new MC software products and changes in hardware and software. Provide constructive feedback to PdM MC C4ISR and systems engineering Configuration Management (CM) personnel regarding the potential impact upon various digitized units, including the Stryker Brigades at locations worldwide to include CTC rotation missions.




  • Capable of both independent operation as well as team interaction with the ability to transition smoothly between the two with no loss of efficiency. 




  • Provide technical support independently under challenging and changing conditions.




  • Display a high degree of resourcefulness and initiative in the face of changing conditions and customer requirements.




  • Must be able to interpret and execute implied tasks to accomplish missions.




  • Understand and articulate Mission Command equipment required network connections to attain and maintain network connectivity and data flow.




  • Capable of performing analysis of system operation.




  • Have knowledge of and experience in the utilization of operating system and database management systems. 




  • Experience in fault detection, isolation and correction of computer systems and individual peripheral devices.




  • Capable of routine system maintenance and administrative functions including; system configuration and modifications; adding removing and replacing Hardware and software items system start up and shutdown, backup and restore; database administration and maintenance; and system user access control.




  • May be require for extended TDY CONUS and OCONUS as well as operations in contingency environments 50% to 75% in temporary duty status in support of Mission Command.




  • Be able to study and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine correct installation and operation procedures.




  • Assist user to install new software versions or software patches to ensure correct system configuration and operational status




  • Provide guidance, assistance, over-the-shoulder (OTS) system maintenance, operation, and configuration training to Users, Maintainers, System Administrators and Government representatives, as required, for operation, maintenance and support of government systems, sub‑systems and software. 




  • Provide technical assistance to users and maintenance personnel for on-site and remote administration diagnostics and correction of problems/failures that render the system or any of its components inoperable or result in degraded performance. 




  • Implement corrective actions, and generate problem reports utilizing the Incident Reporting tool on the Single Interface to the Field (SIF) website and other designated reporting tools.




  • Develop and document maintenance support troubleshooting, diagnosis, fault isolation, adjustment, repair, and removal & replacement procedures as required.




  • Install, operate, and maintain system components as required to meet the mission requirements during test events and demonstration.




  • Provide Tier I and II customer support to our PM-managed systems, and developer-level support to the SIF portal for which the contractor provides development services.




  • Perform IT and network services including system administration, information assurance, server operations and maintenance, troubleshooting/diagnosis, contingency help desk operations.




  • Assist customers in using system architectures, processes, information flows, and tools including web-based systems.




  • Using the appropriate reporting tools, document all hardware and software problems and failures, analyze, repair and fixes for transmittal to appropriate system proponents.




  • Assist user to install new software versions or software patches to ensure correct system configuration and operational status.  Document all hardware and software updates in the appropriate reporting tool.




  • Provide software and operator test support to the Consolidated Test Support Facility (CTSF) at Fort Hood, TX, APG MD, and other government-designated test sites.




  • Provide in-theater liaison management and technical support to fielding teams, to include participation as a team member, as required.




  • Review, coordinate, and provide written and/or verbal feedback to specific government-provided logistics and technical documentation as required.




  • Report any configuration management changes to fielded systems/software via government designated configuration management tool.




  • Be prepared to execute PM directed duties relating to Mission Command Server/Client hardware/software not previously assigned.




  • Prepare and submit periodic status reports CDRLs as required by operational procedures.




  • Demonstrate ability to maintain commitment to maintaining/enhancing technical skills and techniques required in order to meet career demands.




  • Have / maintain currency in all required certifications to include at a minimum SECURITY+.




  • Maintains currency in and understanding of periodic technical advances in fielded MC hardware and software.
