Are you an expert technical IT specialist looking for a unique and rare Mainframe opportunity? Here is your opportunity to join us and move us forward in our mission to Keep Washington Safe and Working.

As an expert technical lead for high risk/high impact applications developed or supported by the Claims Core Team, this opportunity ensures the integrity and accessibility of our L&I systems.

In the first 6-12 months you will

  • Become involved in cataloging and documenting our current mainframe systems

  • Learn the current mainframe environment and support our legislative mandates for payments systems.

  • Grow and develop your skill set in leadership, have access to the latest trainings available, and collaborate and learn from a seasoned team.

This is a great opportunity to be a part of a large scale project to move mainframe to a newer technology, build your toolbox around new technology and progress our agencies vision and transformation of the IT division.   

Some of what you'll do

  • Expert technical lead for high risk/impact applications developed or supported by the Claims Core Team to include: administer, monitor, configure, deploy and manage agency wide application systems, and make recommendations based on analysis of trends for improvements and efficiencies.

  • Provide technical assistance/support to projects.

  • Consult on technical and staff resource issues with other unit leads and management.

  • Conduct status and priority meetings, attend incident response meetings, and coordinate production issue resolution, during system outages facilitate/coordinate with appropriate staff.

  • Support and enhance existing systems and applications using technologies, languages, and tools identified as necessary for this position.

  • Troubleshoot and fix production incidents, identify long term fixes, enhance technical skills to provide support on upcoming projects.

  • Understand customer's needs, and coordinate with them to define, develop, and test system requirements.

Who should apply
Professionals with 5 years of Information Technology experience in a professional IT workplace.

Professionals with associate's degrees or higher in computer science, information technology or completion of an accredited vocational training program in information technology or related program

3 years of experience in a professional IT workplace. Experience includes but is not limited to analyzing, designing, implementing, maintaining or programming computer software applications and databases.
Three years of experience should include knowledge and use of the following: NatClipse, Java, VB.NET, Visual Studio, TFS, ASP, ASP.NET, EntireX, MQ Series, JavaScript, HTML, XML, and MS SQL Server.

  • Additional experience or knowledge with Natural, ADABAS, JCL, COBOL, Endevor, and/or TSO.
