Job description

Role


The Field Sales Engineer will be responsible for guiding implementations, taking over after the completion of the sale through equipment deployment, ensuring an on-schedule and seamless deployment using internal and third-party resources.  Post-delivery, the role will be responsible for smooth handoff to Tier 2 Support for ongoing communications.


The FSE will own third-party installer relationships – identify, evaluate, approve, contract, train and manage.  Also, the FSE will be supported by Corporate Operations with inventory, training materials, systems and tier 3 support.


Reporting to the GM-North America, the role will combine their technical aptitude, practical project management, operational experience and rock solid interpersonal skills to deliver value to clients.


This role will report to Buddy’s Seattle office.


Responsibilities



  • Complete installations of Buddy Ohm in commercial customer accounts

  • Identify, evaluate, approve, contract, train and manage new and existing installation partners

  • Support installation partners by helping to translate customer goals and systems into a deployment design

  • Project management of local system installation and configuration via Buddy and 3rd party personnel

  • Management of client expectations and communications during deployment

  • Manage customer deployment (including 3rd parties such as electrical contractors), escalations and negotiate resolutions

  • Oversee customer onboarding/coordinate internal meetings to overcome obstacles toward completion

  • Assist in RFP/sales process as needed

  • Provide customer training and product familiarization sessions

  • Create and coordinate project documentation as needed i.e. user guides, test plans, presentations, process docs, etc.

  • Coordinate/facilitate customer and partner meetings

  • Change management (platform migrations, building deployment scope changes, etc.)

  • Identify, scope and upsell opportunities to deliver incremental value to clients

  • Support the continuous process improvement efforts within Buddy


Skills, Experience & Qualifications



  • 5+ years of Energy Engineering and/or Building Operations experience or experience as a licensed Electrician or Plumber

  • 5+ years of Field Deployment, Consulting, Building Controls Installation and/or Operations experience or implementation of electrical or mechanical systems

  • Familiarity with the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP); and how to manage the savings verification process for both internal and external reporting

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Strong customer-facing skills and the ability to create and manage relationships at all levels of a customer organization

  • Willingness to travel 50%+

  • Ability to maintain a high level of productivity, manage multiple competing priorities, and work effectively under the pressure of time constraints in a fast-paced, complex, collaborative, and creative environment

  • Must be legally authorized to work in USA with either citizenship or permanent residency.


Day in the life…


Onboard a new customer: Attend a customer handover meeting with a Buddy Account Executive or 3-rd Party Partner to ensure that goals and objectives are well understood and the specified solution is suitable. Configure the solution technology and arrange for delivery to the building and coordinate installation with the contractor. Alert the customer when installation is complete and arrange for a 30 day follow-up.


Troubleshooting: A source of questionable data at a customer site is proactively discovered. You remotely troubleshoot the issue working in conjunction with Buddy’s Engineering team and deliver a fix. The customer is then alerted there was a problem which has been addressed.
