Duties


 


The main purpose of this position is to oversee efforts to increase inclusion of diverse and small businesses in state contracting, and to help the C&P division market the master contract suite of contracts to customer agencies. This position supervises the agency's Diverse Business Initiatives manager, and works externally to assist agencies in meeting the Governor's contract diversity goals, as well as ensure that the department meets the Governor's contract diversity goals. 

Some of your responsibilities will include:


Overseeing efforts to increase inclusion of diverse and small businesses in state contracting.


Marketing and outreach of C&P master contracts and services.


Providing or overseeing staff support for the division's Procurement Customer Advisory Group and Business Diversity Advisory Group.


Forming constructive relationships with professional organizations, special interest groups and public sector agencies and private sector agencies, related to governmental contracting and procurement and/or dedicated to utilization of small and diverse businesses.


Providing policy leadership for DES and DES partner agencies for supplier diversity results, including understanding and implementing recommendations of the statewide disparity study, and providing staff support on behalf of C&P to the Governor's Subcabinet.


Forming constructive relationships with professional organizations, special interest groups and public sector agencies and private sector agencies, related to governmental contracting and procurement and/or dedicated to utilization of small and diverse businesses.


 


Qualifications


 


REQUIRED:
Bachelor degree from an accredited College or University in marketing, outreach, communications, journalism, business, liberal arts, administration (public or business), or related fields.  
AND
Four (4) years of demonstrated professional experience in business diversity programs, marketing, and/or outreach.
 
OR


Any combination of relevant (above-mentioned) education and/or professional experience totaling eight (8) years.
 
AND


Advanced knowledge of the policies and procedures and state laws and administrative codes for Washington State government procurement and/or federal laws related to diversity in procurement and contracting.
